The Heavy Haul Heavy Lift (HHHL) Coordinator / Appointed Person plays a crucial role in both coordinating and ensuring safe lifting operations and movement of heavy plant and equipment on construction sites. As the HHHL/ Appointed Person, you will be responsible for ensuring all construction activities requiring lifting operations and heavy plant movement are identified, and suitable lifting plans are created and approved to allow the safe execution of the required work.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of a large-scale ME&I project, ensuring the efficiency and safety of all lifting activities and heavy plant movement taking place on site. Your activities will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate other APs on the project
  • Identify any planned work requiring lifting activities and heavy plant movement in good time
  • Collaborate with project/construction managers, engineers, and site superintendents to plan and schedule the lifting activities
  • Ensure all personnel involved in lifting operations and heavy plant movement are competent, adequately trained and certified for their respective roles
  • Create lift plans and risk assessments for all categorised lifts
  • Ensure all lifting operations comply with relevant standards, regulations and project specifications
  • Identify potential hazards, risks and issues associated with lifting operations and heavy plant movement, and proactively address them
  • Ensure an inspection regime of lifting equipment is in place
  • Maintain a Lifting Equipment Register
  • Keep the Work Pack Manager informed of any lift plans as appropriate
  • Attend Daily Coordination meetings and any other meetings as required
  • Ensure compliance with current BUK lifting procedures

Proficiency in AutoCAD for the preparation and review of lifting plans is preferred. Experience in Heavy Haul and Heavy Lift is essential.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience in construction or maintenance, including heavy lift experience and with at least 2 years AP duties
  • ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads / NVQ Level 3 Moving Loads
  • CPCS A61 Appointed Persons Lifting Operations / or equivalent
  • Sound understanding of LOLER regulations and BS 7121 safe use of cranes standards
  • Good interpersonal skills required as part of a large project team
  • Self-motivated to achieve client deadlines
