Lead Commissioning Engineer (Felindre)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the on-site planning and execution of the project commissioning team.
- Support the Project Commissioning Lead in all aspects of project technical delivery and scope management.
- Assist with the development of the project delivery strategy and planning for each Work Pack/System.
- Assist completions engineer in setting system limit boundaries for work packs.
- Provide technical and engineering team support for SCADA, control & protection, ESD, F&G, Telemetry, and UPS systems.
- Complete and manage all relevant project documentation to meet client management procedure requirements (T/PM/G/35) and (T/PM/RE/18).
- Lead the technical and quality requirements on the project.
- Perform highly skilled commissioning testing on Electrical, instrumentation and control apparatus and develop written procedures alongside other project commissioning engineers.
- Perform commissioning activities on control circuits, level, flow, temperature, and pressure control devices.
- Perform commissioning activities on Fire & Gas systems and devices, validating cause & effects charts and interfaces.
- Read, interpret and work from vendor documentation, project drawings, schematic diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Analyse work problems and make corrections when required to facilitate the completion of system assignments.
- Allocate tasks to the commissioning team and monitor progress.
- Establish positive working relationships with the wider project team and client.
- Read, understand and follow ALL safe systems of work.
- Ensure project adherence to company quality processes and procedures.
- Identify project opportunities and variations.
- Support the project commissioning team in identifying and managing risks and issues.
- Manage and co-ordinate specialist vendors to undertake commissioning activities.
- Provide health and safety leadership by example.
FUNCTION:
The Lead Commissioning Engineer is normally expected to undertake the following:
- Undertake or manage site surveys as required.
- Undertake or manage Toolbox talks within the team as required.
- Identify and develop testing & commissioning methodology documentation with the team.
- Develop site work documentation with team input as necessary (risk assessment, method statement, site test documentation).
- Supervise full integrated system testing, CFAT, SAT and installation & calibration testing if required.
- Undertake or manage observations, variation, and reworks.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Deep knowledge of EC&I and Automation is preferred, but you also have a sound knowledge of other disciplines (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping and Process).
- Deep knowledge of the Gas Transmission and Distribution Standards and Specifications for all disciplines, specifically focused around the compressor stations.
- Sound understanding of the current British and European Standards.
- Previous technical experience in the field of Electrical, Instrumentation and Control.
- Previous experience of supervising a team of Electrical/Instrument technicians.
- Previous experience with Hub2 completions management system.
- More than 5 years of experience as a Commissioning Engineer, in multi-discipline projects, in an Engineering / EPCM / EPC company, in the Gas Transmission and/or Distribution sector.
