Reporting to the Mechanical & Piping Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for mechanical and piping engineering and design within a multi-discipline EPC project. The detailed design project includes mechanical engineering scope for several modifications to UK based gas compressor units. You will be responsible for quality in engineering designs and projects including the checking and approval of design deliverables. You will ensure designs are compliant with UK regulations, client requirements, standards and specifications. You will be responsible for completing the mechanical and piping engineering activities and deliverables within the defined scope, time and budget. You will use change control procedures to communicate risks to project delivery and support the mechanical engineering lead. You will participate in internal and external design review. You will take ownership of technical workpacks that will be compiled and issued through the site owners management of change procedure. You will provide expert technical support within the mechanical engineering team.
Your profile
- Hold a qualification in Mechanical Engineering, to Degree level (BEng or MEng)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IMechE or equivalent institute (Preferred)
- Demonstrable experience as a Senior Engineer, in multi-discipline engineering projects
- Experience working on EPC or EPCM projects
- Have a working knowledge of general engineering standards and specification (Essential) and IGEM standards and specifications (Preferred)
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices
- Good appreciation of other disciplines (Civil, Structural, EC&I and Process)
- Able to demonstrate good knowledge and experience with the production and/or having input to specifications, datasheets, basis of design, scopes of work, schedules, calculations, drawings, 3D models, schedules, design risk assessments and compliance assessments
- Experience with the application of piping design codes to ASME and BS EN standards
- Experience working to the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and Pressure Equipment Safety Regulations (PESR) (Preferred)
- Experience delivering engineering documents to a high standard and in line with quality requirements
- Able to plan and organise activities before you begin tasks.
- Good understanding of the dependencies of the engineering activities within engineering disciplines and project functions (quality, project controls, planning, quality, etc)
- Have an appreciation with the main mechanical design packages including for example, AutoCAD, Plant3D, E3D, Caesar II
- You understand the importance of change control procedures and pro-actively communicate known and potential changes.
- You can develop and effectively present design packages, ensuring it meets the scope of the project.
- You are able to prepare for, and chair design review meetings.
- Able to meet UK security clearance requirements (Preferred)
