About Bikmo
Bikmo exists to protect the world's riders and the places we ride. We're a fast-growing, international insurance business with teams across the UK and Europe, operating in a highly regulated, high-change environment. As we scale, financial discipline, accuracy and operational efficiency will play a key role in supporting our growth ambitions.
We're looking for a proactive, organised and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of the business — from processing and reconciliations to accounts payable, receivable and payments — helping ensure our finance function runs smoothly across teams and territories.
This role offers the opportunity to build broad operational finance experience in a scaling international business and grow responsibility over time.
The Role
The Finance Assistant plays a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of Bikmo's finance operations. Reporting into the Financial Controller, this role is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial administration across accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, payment processing and core finance support activities. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role for someone who enjoys structure and organisation, but who is also motivated to improve processes, solve problems proactively and take ownership of their work. You’ll work across teams and territories, helping maintain strong financial controls while supporting operational efficiency as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable, Receivable & Credit Control
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and on time.
- Support credit control activity, including chasing outstanding balances and resolving payment queries.
- Liaise with suppliers and colleagues to resolve invoice and payment queries promptly.
- Payments & Banking
- Process payment runs, ad hoc payments and other bank-related transactions.
- Reconcile bank accounts and other finance accounts on a regular cycle.
- Work with the Commercial Finance team to process commission payments accurately and on schedule.
- Month End & Process Support
- Meet processing deadlines as part of the month-end cycle and other recurring finance routines.
- Assist with preparation and posting of routine journals, accruals and prepayments as part of the month-end process.
- Help keep Finance procedures and process notes up to date, accurate and in line with prescribed formats.
- Support payroll where required, including liaising with external payroll providers.
- Finance Administration
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Finance Team, including setting up new users for cards, managing utilities and other routine finance admin.
- Support the team in maintaining strong financial controls and accurate records across teams and territories.
You Will Be
- Highly organised and proactive, with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable managing multiple workstreams.
- Have some prior experience in a finance or bookkeeping role (AP/AR, reconciliations or similar), or be a part-qualified/AAT studier looking to build on the basics.
- Familiar with cloud accounting systems (e.g. Xero or similar).
- Confident working with spreadsheets and data.
- Comfortable identifying opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and strengthen controls.
- A clear, personable communicator who works well with people across the business and across timezones.
- Able to think laterally and solve problems proactively.
- Collaborative and dependable, comfortable working both in a team and on your own initiative.
- Flexible and resilient in a fast-moving, growing business.
What This Role Is Not
- While the role is primarily operational, there will be opportunities to support month-end activities and broaden responsibilities over time.
- This is not a UK-only role — the scope is pan-European.
- This is a hands-on operational finance role rather than a senior finance leadership position.
- This is not a role that sets finance policy or controls — the focus is administrative and processing support.
Practicalities
- Reporting to: Financial Controller
- Location: Remote (UK)
- Working pattern: 38 hours / 5 days per week
- Salary: £27,000 - £29,000 FTE (GBP), depending on experience.
