We are looking for a time served and experienced bicycle mechanic to join the team at our Ings Store. We have a very busy workshop year round, and work on some of the best brands in the industry including Specialized, Moustache, Santa Cruz, Open, Mason, Forbidden, and Transition.
Working with our other mechanic you will be responsible for ensuring all bikes are built to our exacting standards, and all servicing is carried out within the remit of our demanding customers. The service centre is an essential part of our business and is pivotal in many of the sales decisions our clients make.
You will be expected to handle service centre queries from customers on a daily basis, and hand over all repaired and serviced bikes. Because of this we are looking for someone who’s as good on the phone and face to face as they are on the spanners.
About Us:
Biketreks is an established cycle retailer in the Lake District. We have 2 stores covering all aspects of cycling from electric hybrids to custom built super bikes and everything in between. We excel in customer service, and have a team of honest and professional salespeople across all our stores. We have won specialist retailer of the year due to our proven concept, and we are evolving year on year with our open minded approach to the industry.
About the role:
- Build new bikes for the shop floor – we strip and rebuild our bikes, we don’t simply PDI them.
- Carry out servicing work on all manner of bikes from electric to touring bikes.
- Learn the art of custom building with some of our unique brands.
- Schedule all workshop jobs to maximise efficiency within the service centre.
- Stay ahead of the curve when it comes to new products and have an open mind when it comes to new concepts and ideas.
- Demonstrate exceptional communication skills.
- Work on electric motor and battery systems from Bosch, Brose, Fazua, and Shimano (training will be provided).
- Help in the running of the service centre to maximise efficiency and uphold our values and reputation.
About You:
We are looking for a time served mechanic or someone with a mechanical thought process, not just someone who ticks the CyTech boxes. Whether you’re young and keen, or seasoned and steady we want to hear from you.
We are a specialist retailer who invests in their staff and sees this role as a career not a stop gap until something else comes along. Because of this we are looking for a committed individual who is willing to give the role their all and input into the overall growth of the business.
If you’re looking for an all encompassing challenge with opportunities to hone skills you’ve always thought out of reach then we can help you with that. We’ve experts in wheel building, suspension servicing and Brose diagnostics on our books so anything is possible.
We ask that you are polite, considered and able to offer advice based on the policies of the company. We work within a set of standards rather than having a laissez faire approach to business so we won’t suit everyone's approach to a workshop. You must be a neat and tidy worker.
Benefits, Salary & Hours of Work:
We offer a competitive salary dependent on experience. Starting wage is £28k PA for an experienced mechanic, those learning or transferring skills will start on NLW with pay scale dictated by milestones / qualifications achieved.
You will be enrolled on a company pension scheme.
We offer 28 days holiday per year (including bank holidays).
You will be expected to attend first aid at work training.
We have numerous training programs available from those looking for CyTech certificates through to those looking for Cycle Leader Training qualifications.
The position is based at Biketreks Ings, Ings Village, Cumbria, LA8 9PY.
The role will be full time, 40 hours per week, across five days Sunday to Thursday.
We are looking to start the role asap.
