We operate a centrally managed modern fleet of vehicles, specialising in the supply of aggregates to the construction industry and the removal of spoil from sites, priding ourselves on a first-class reliable service and quality products. Our highly experienced Traffic Managers are aided by the latest GPS technology, to continually react to our clients' regularly changing requirements. The reputation of the Haulage Division has developed as a result of this professional handling and distribution.

As our fleet continues to grow rapidly, we are seeking an organised and proactive Transport Planner & Coordinator to support the day-to-day operation of our haulage fleet. This is a hands-on, office-based role responsible for planning vehicle movements, coordinating drivers, ensuring compliance with UK transport legislation, and maintaining high service levels for our customers. The successful candidate will play a key role in maximising fleet utilisation while maintaining operational efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Role Requirements:

  • Daily planning and routing of vehicles, delivering aggregates on a multi-load basis for clients within construction related industries
  • Handling enquiries for aggregates and spoil removal, preparing quotations, and securing work through successful delivery and completion of orders
  • Maintaining strong product knowledge to advise clients on suitable aggregates to use and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Processing delivery tickets and PODs, and reconciling self-bill invoices and haulier sales invoices
  • Checking and signing off customer invoices
  • Driver recruitment and liaison, including inductions and reviews
  • Using transport management software to produce daily vehicle earnings reports and provide analysis for monthly P&L reporting
  • Monitor vehicle movements and respond quickly to delays, breakdowns, or route issues
  • Monitor driver hours and ensure compliance with UK Drivers’ Hours Regulations
  • Review tachograph reports and support follow-up action where required
  • Ensure compliance with DVSA and operator licence obligations
  • Communicate with clients regarding delivery times and service updates
  • Coordinate with the workshop to manage vehicle availability and minimise downtime
  • Support route optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives

Skill Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a transport planning or haulage coordination role
  • Strong understanding of UK driver hours rules and tachograph regulations
  • Knowledge of DVSA compliance requirements and operator licence standards
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and transport management systems
  • Good geographical knowledge of Yorkshire, Teesside and the North East
  • Calm under pressure and able to make quick decisions
  • Strong communicator with drivers, customers and colleagues
