BikePark Wales is seeking a skilled mechanic to join the team in a dual capacity: working on our Trek hire fleet and collaborating with the specialist workshop team on customer bikes. The role involves a range of work from routine repairs to highly specialised tasks. The successful candidate will be engaging, organised, experienced and good with people. Minimum Cytech Level 2 with workshop experience required. A strong knowledge of mountain biking and customer service is essential.
The position supports both the hire department and workshop in a fast-paced environment, ensuring high levels of service and experience for beginners to seasoned riders. This is a unique opportunity to grow the workshop department within the UK’s number one Bike Park.
Duties and Responsibilities- Daily workshop services as directed by the Workshop, Hire Manager and Senior Bike Manager.
- Maintain high quality and quantity of work, service standards and behaviour.
- Carry out daily running of the workshops and bike hire customer front.
- Repair and service customer bikes and the hire fleet; prepare ex-hire bikes for sale.
- Work to a job record system, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced workshop.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing standards and complying with regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of industry developments and assist in stock maintenance.
- Keep workshop and adjacent areas tidy; ensure good housekeeping.
- Act as a knowledgeable point of contact for customers using hire services; discuss product and package options with customers.
- Contribute to team goals and perform related tasks as needed.
- Be well versed with key brands (e.g., Trek, SRAM, RockShox, Peaty’s, WTB).
- Attend and contribute to monthly team meetings; pursue ongoing training and professional development.
- Cover shop sales and customer service as required.
Maintain previous workshop experience in the bike industry; minimum CYTECH Level 2 qualification. Demonstrate a hard-working, passionate attitude; prioritise workload; manage time effectively; communicate clearly; show a keen interest in MTB and BikePark Wales. Desire to contribute to growing the workshop department and supporting a premier customer experience.
Additional desirable items: Citrus Lime POS and Workshop Module experience, Bosch E-Bike experience, prior hire experience, ability to communicate in Welsh.Qualifications and Skills
