A well-established recycling and resource management business is seeking a Transport Manager to oversee the safe, compliant and efficient operation of its transport function. The fleet supports a mix of local authority and commercial recycling services, helping to reduce landfill and improve environmental outcomes across the region. The Transport Manager will report to the Head of Transport and take ownership of day-to-day standards, driver leadership and full O-Licence responsibility.
The Role
- Plan and schedule routes to ensure reliable collection and haulage services
- Maintain oversight of inspections, maintenance and MOT compliance
- Lead and support drivers, promoting safe, professional working practices
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
- Ensure training, competency and safe systems of work are consistently applied
Our Ideal Candidate
It goes without saying that, as our ideal candidate, you will have your Transport Manager CPC and experience holding an O-License, with a background managing HGV operations (recycling, bulk haulage or similar). You will also:
- Have a HGV Class C or CE with valid Driver CPC
- Have a strong understanding of compliance, tachographs and DVSA requirements
- Lead calmly, communicate well and build trust with drivers and operational teams
- Focus on safety, consistency and operational improvement
