As a Senior SDET, you’ll play an important role in ensuring we produce high quality software solutions that solve customer and user problems. You will be joining a team which is integrating data from client and third-party sources to BigHand’s cloud environments. The Senior SDET’s aim is to write robust and comprehensive automated tests through many levels of the Testing Pyramid to deliver quality products – from Component, Integration, E2E, and Performance tests at the API level, to UI E2E automated tests for Desktop Apps. You will also play a key role in helping define the future automation strategy and coaching/upskilling the QA team in automated testing.
The successful Senior SDET will have good communication ability, a professional attitude and work ethic, along with good experience of key Test Automation tools and processes. They will be able to help define the Automation Strategy and Frameworks from a strategic, as well as tactical perspective.
What You’ll Do
- Tests new software products and services through automation as well as manually.
- Takes ownership for delivering high quality software.
- Writes automated Component, Integration, E2E, and Performance tests for the Back end, as well as E2E tests for the Front-End.
- Builds/maintains a Regression Test library.
- Collaborates with developers/product owners to design automated tests using a BDD approach when applicable.
- Recommends strategies and methods to improve test plans and process.
- Coordinates test schedules, work and resource plans and manage progress of all activities against plan.
- Proactively develops their skill and competence in both the products and test process/tools.
- Mentors/supports and develops fellow team members in writing high quality Automation tests.
- Embraces the agile development framework and way of thinking.
- Leads by example on all above responsibilities.
What We’re Looking For
- You are a technically strong engineer with a passion for quality.
- You enjoy solving complex problems, thinking critically and helping others improve.
- A software engineering background or strong hands‑on coding experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem or Java.
- Understanding of SQL, relational databases and application architecture.
- API Test Automation experience through complex dedicated frameworks on all levels, especially below Integration Tests (not just via Postman or similar tools).
- Experience of Performance Test Automation in code layer (not just via GUI).
- Hands‑on experience using mocking frameworks such as Moq or Mockwire and designing for testability.
- Skilled at debugging, reviewing and improving automation code.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands‑on testing of desktop, web and mobile applications.
- Knowledge of Agile, Scrum and BDD practices.
- Understanding of QA metrics, reporting and the role of AI in quality engineering.
- A pragmatic mindset focused on delivering value and solving real problems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
