About the role
As a Software Engineering Lead, you will guide a collaborative Scrum team in designing, developing, and improving BigHand products. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality software, supporting team members' growth, and promoting inclusive, effective engineering practices. What you'll do
- Provide supportive line management to your direct reports.
- Lead the design and development of new and existing software products and services.
- Contribute to enhancements and maintenance of current BigHand solutions.
- Serve as the technical lead on projects, offering clear design guidance aligned to architectural principles.
- Participate in architectural and design conversations.
- Ensure team alignment to engineering practices, including code reviews and quality standards.
- Champion Agile practices and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and empower team members in both technical and professional development.
- Foster an inclusive, respectful team culture where everyone feels valued.
- Model collaborative behaviours across all stages of development and delivery.
What we're looking for
- Experience working within Scrum or Agile teams.
- Experience supporting or guiding a development team.
- Clear, compassionate communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Willingness to continue learning and developing skills.
- Experience with C# .NET 4.x, Object-Oriented Programming, and Service-Oriented Architecture.
- Understanding of web services (WCF, RESTful), MVC, HTML5, jQuery, and Bootstrap.
- Strong SQL skills (Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL).
- Experience with testing frameworks such as NUnit or Moq.
- Knowledge of front-end frameworks (e.g., Angular).
- Experience with Entity Framework.
- Exposure to desktop UI technologies (WPF, WinForms).
- Awareness of secure coding practices.
