Freelance Site Manager
Location: Canary Wharf, London
Contract: Freelance, approximately 12 months
Project Value: £2.3m
The Role
I'm working on a long-term freelance opportunity for a Site Manager to join a £2.3m internal stonework and tiling package on a major 23-storey building in Canary Wharf. You'll be working as the No.2 to the onsite Project Manager, helping drive the package forward on site and making sure the works are properly planned, coordinated and delivered. The project is expected to run for around a year, giving you good longevity rather than another short-term site move.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the onsite Project Manager with the day-to-day running of the works
- Managing and coordinating internal stonework packages
- Overseeing tiling works across the development
- Managing the initial works predominantly across the ground and first floors
- Overseeing the tiling programme as the works progress through the corridors across all 23 floors
- Coordinating subcontractors and trades on site
- Monitoring progress, quality and programme
- Making sure works are delivered safely and to the required standard
- Working closely with the Project Manager and wider site team
- Keeping on top of site issues and helping drive the package through to completion
What we're looking for:
- Proven Site Management experience within construction, fit-out or finishing works
- Strong experience managing subcontractors and trades on site
- SMSTS
- Black or Gold CSCS card
- Experience with tiling or internal finishes
- Stone masonry / stonework experience would be a bonus, but is not essential
- Someone comfortable working as a No.2 alongside an experienced Project Manager
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Able to work on a large, complex 23-storey project
