Big Wave Productions is looking for a Sound Edit Assistant. We're looking for someone with around one year of TV factual experience as a Sound Assistant in a post-production environment / post house who is ready to step up into a junior sound editor role. This opportunity is not suitable for recent graduates or anyone who already has a Junior Sound Editor credit. This is a paid position. Working from our Brighton office is essential.
Skills
- Confident using Pro Tools, including session setup, editing, track management, importing AAFs from the offline picture edit, and conforming to picture changes.
- Knowledge of core plug-ins, including EQ, compression, limiting, reverb and noise reduction.
- Experience using sound effects libraries and audio asset management software (Soundminer preferred; BaseHead also considered).
- An ear for creating detailed, immersive ambiences, sound design and spot effects to picture in stereo.
- Natural history experience is desirable.
- Strong session organisation, with clean, well-labelled files, tracks and sessions to ensure the mix runs efficiently.
- Understanding of sound edit-to-mix handover practices.
- Awareness of loudness and delivery standards (e.g. EBU R128) is desirable but not essential.
