Tired of developers not taking quality assurance seriously? Want to use your technical expertise to help not only work hands on but help coach and train? You'll join a long established UK based SaaS business whose developers have taken an AI lead approach. Some are now three to five times more productive. That has created a new problem: testing can't keep up so they are changing how quality works, and they want a Senior Quality Engineer who has done shift-left before to help lead it.

You will coach developers to own quality, build the framework their tests run in and sign off releases as a whole. This is a quality engineering role for someone who would rather raise the standard across a team than be the gate at the end.

What you will do:

  • Coach developers through stories, agreeing where tests are needed and where existing coverage is enough
  • Help the Lead QE embed shift-left and modern quality practices across several engineering teams
  • Build and maintain the test framework, and work with DevOps on fast pipeline feedback
  • Review Playwright tests written by developers and check they assert the right things
  • Bring releases together, sign them off and dig into any escaped defects
  • Find where AI can speed up testing, and help the QE team use it

Essential skills:

  • Quality coaching or shift-left experience in a software team
  • Test automation with Playwright, Selenium or Cypress, or a coding background such as a development role or computer science degree
  • Proven, practical use of AI tools in testing
  • Strong communication and the credibility to influence developers
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines

The role is fully remote with a top end salary of £60,000 + benefits like 34 days holiday, and private healthcare. The successful candidate must have permanent residency in the UK (British Citizenship or ILR). Unfortunately, candidates who do not meet this criteria will not be considered.

Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned.
