Want to be the Business Analyst who gets to own the data change agenda? This is an opportunity to join a large, established UK organisation at a point where investment in data and technology is accelerating. With multiple data initiatives already underway and more coming through the pipeline, the business is creating a dedicated Business Analyst position focused entirely on its data transformation portfolio.

Rather than picking up one project and disappearing into the background, you’ll become the BA who understands what is happening across the data estate, why it matters to the business and what needs to happen next.

The company: You’ll be joining a sizeable UK organisation with operations across the country and a complex technology landscape to match. Technology is playing an increasingly important role in how the organisation operates, and there is significant change taking place across its data estate. The internal technology function brings together Business Analysis, Data Engineering, Architecture and Delivery, giving you direct access to the people shaping and delivering that transformation.

There are already two Business Analysts within the team, but the volume of data change has reached the point where it needs someone dedicated to this area. That’s where you come in.

What will you be working on? There’s already a genuine portfolio waiting for you. One of the major programmes is a migration to Databricks, where you’ll help the business understand what data and workloads need to move, how they’re currently being used and what the change means for the teams consuming that data. Alongside this is the decommissioning of a legacy BI and reporting platform. This is much more greenfield from a BA perspective. You’ll get out into the business, understand who is using the existing platform, what they’re actually using it for and what they need from a future solution. There are also wider Data Engineering initiatives around new pipelines, the data lake and where data should sit within the organisation’s evolving architecture. Some projects have already been through early discovery. Others will be yours from the very beginning.

Where do you fit in? You’ll sit at the intersection of the business and technology. On one side, you’ll be running workshops, interviews and discovery sessions to understand how teams operate today and get underneath the stated requirement to uncover what they genuinely need. On the other, you’ll work closely with Data Engineering, Architecture, Project Management and Technical Delivery, translating those business needs into requirements that can actually be taken forward. That means requirements elicitation, gap analysis, as-is and to-be processes, impact analysis and producing documentation that makes sense for the project. Sometimes that will mean user stories; other times, more traditional functional requirements. Crucially, you won’t be expected to design the technical solution yourself. Your job is to understand the problem, represent the business need and give the technical teams the clarity they need to determine the right solution.

What kind of BA will thrive here? You’ll already have experience delivering IT change as a Business Analyst and be comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting for someone to tell you what question to ask next. You don’t need to be a Data Engineer, but you do need to understand the world they operate in. If conversations around data platforms, pipelines, data lakes, warehousing, reporting and migration are familiar territory, you’ll be able to get up to speed quickly. Just as importantly, you’ll know how to work with people. You’ll be comfortable challenging stakeholders, running effective workshops and turning broad requests into clear requirements. Experience with areas such as Databricks, data migration, legacy decommissioning, data governance or data lake architecture would be useful, but the strength of your overall Business Analysis and data experience is more important than ticking every box.

The details: This is a 12-month opportunity paying £50,000, based in the West Midlands. The team works predominantly onsite, so you’ll need to be comfortable being in the office 4 days per week, with 1 day working remotely. £50,000 | Warwickshire | 4 days onsite | 12-month FTC.
