Workshop Technician - Big Maggy's Coffee & Bike Store
We're looking for another person to join our small team at Big Maggy's in Jersey.
This isn't really a traditional bike mechanic job. We're looking for someone who wants to become part of the business, learn a lot, get involved in different things and hopefully build a long-term career with us.
The role will be centred around our workshop, working on everything from everyday bikes through to high-end road, gravel, MTB and the latest e-bikes. You'll also spend some time helping customers on the shop floor and getting involved in the wider day-to-day running of Big Maggy's.
What you'll be doing
- Servicing, repairing and building bikes and e-bikes
- Learning modern electronic diagnostics and e-bike systems
- Helping customers and providing technical advice
- Working alongside our sales and bike-fitting team
- Helping us continually improve the way our workshop operates
- Generally mucking in - we're a small team, so job descriptions are fairly flexible!
Who are we looking for?
We're deliberately keeping this fairly open.
You might already be an experienced bike mechanic. You might be working in another technical or practical industry and fancy a change. You could even be a school leaver who loves bikes, understands how things work and wants to learn some proper real-world skills.
What matters most to us is that you're hands-on, technically minded, good with people, interested in bikes and willing to learn.
Previous bike-shop experience would obviously be useful, but it isn't essential for the right person. Training will be provided.
What's Big Maggy's like?
We're an independent bike shop, workshop, bike-fitting studio and café in St Helier. We're a small, close-knit team and everyone gets involved in the business rather than disappearing into a single department.
Bikes, coffee, pizza, plenty of inappropriate workshop conversation and hopefully very few corporate meetings.
