Overview
Big C Physical Wellbeing Practitioner (21 hours per week) is an opportunity for an empathetic and compassionate individual to combine skills in physical activity with making a difference to people’s lives.
At Big C, we are dedicated to supporting the whole person. While our Support and Information Officers provide emotional support, our Health Academy focuses on physical activity and wellbeing — but these go hand in hand. During exercise sessions and wellbeing events, your ability to listen and respond with empathy will be just as valuable as your exercise expertise.
This is where you would come in! You would work alongside our small but dedicated Health Academy team, developing and delivering educational activities, including Walking Football, Get Moving, and a host of wellbeing events.
Qualifications
We are ideally looking for someone with a Level 4 Cancer and Exercise Rehabilitation qualification. We know this is quite a specialist qualification, so if you have the capability, passion, commitment, and willingness to learn, we are committed to supporting the right person to complete this training.

About Big C
Big C is one of East Anglia’s largest cancer charities, having raised £45 million since it was founded 45 years ago. Today, Big C’s loyal supporters help the charity raise on average £3 million pounds every year to help those in our community who are affected by cancer.
Big C provides free holistic support for those affected by cancer, through:
- Warm and welcoming support centres.
- Virtual services like video chats and phone calls.
- Counselling, complementary therapies, group support, and more.
We also proudly support cancer research at Norwich Research Park and run 11 shops across the region.
- Hours: 21 per week, between 9am–5pm Monday to Friday (occasional weekends and events with notice).
- Salary: £13,785.39 to £15,541.28 ( £22,975.66 – £25,902.14 full time equivalent) subject to skills, qualifications and experience).
- Contract: Two-year fixed-term contract, with the potential to become permanent.

Role Responsibilities
- Delivering the Get Moving with Big C programme, supporting people affected by cancer to increase their physical activity before, during, or after treatment. This includes live exercise sessions, pre-screening calls, and regular check-ins with service users and coaches.
- Facilitating wellbeing sessions with service users when required.
- Supporting colleagues at Health Academy events and educational workshops.
- Helping to create resources, such as follow-along exercise videos, health education campaigns, and nutrition resources.
- Maintaining accurate records and producing statistical information.
- Upholding confidentiality and corporate responsibility.
