Overview
As Senior Site Chemist at our Atherstone site, you will lead safety, health and environmental efforts while driving operational excellence and financial performance. You’ll optimize treatment processes, support customer service, and develop the Transfer Station through market-driven innovation. You’ll manage and develop personnel, align with permits and regulatory requirements, and influence KPIs to deliver measurable site improvements. This role offers a hands-on leadership position at the heart of our waste management operations with a strong impact on safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities
- Lead health, safety and environmental culture, reducing incidents and increasing reporting
- Implement and monitor safety rules and lead indicators per Balanced Business Plan and HSE targets
- Drive site-wide operational excellence in compliance with permits and legal requirements
- Achieve KPIs by delivering safe, compliant treatments and high customer service standards
- Review bookings and capacity, flagging issues to the Site Manager
- Eliminate non-value activities and streamline processes
- Control costs to meet monthly P&L and annual budget goals
- Foster team-based working, capture operator input, evaluate suggestions and implement improvements
- Maintain bay logs, perform internal audits and ensure accurate records for EA and HSE and cost allocation
Key requirements
- Chemistry degree or relevant chemistry background
- Experience in hazardous waste industry
- Proven experience managing a P&L
- Experience enforcing compliance and health and safety regulations
- Previous management and leadership experience
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and time-management skills
- Experience managing a mixed-skills team in a busy environment
- Computer literate with Microsoft Office
