We are looking for a confident and organised Transport Admin/Traffic Dispatcher to join our team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This is a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our depot and ensuring the smooth running of transport activities. Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:30 (40 hours per week).

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum (dependant on experience).

Contract: Fixed-term for a minimum of 12 months, with potential extension to 15 months (to be discussed at interview or post-employment).

A quick look at the role: You will be at the heart of our transport operation, coordinating vehicles, supporting drivers, and keeping everything running efficiently behind the scenes. As well as day-to-day dispatch responsibilities, you will help with compliance, cost control, and employee engagement across the depot.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate vehicle routing and disposal outlet use to maximise efficiency and service quality.
  • Manage driver coverage and availability in line with legal and company requirements.
  • Handle transport administration, including pay, bonus, disposal input, and tachograph records.
  • Monitor and ensure safe, compliant vehicle operations in partnership with our fleet team.
  • Support cost control and productivity through regular reporting and process analysis.
  • Maintain all dispatch office admin including timesheets, payroll records, and holiday rotas.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate in writing, on a one-to-one basis and via the phone with all levels including management, team members and internal/external customers.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise effectively.
  • Experience of working to strict deadlines in a time-critical environment.
  • A willingness to adapt and develop skill-sets and knowledge which is determined by the role/business.
  • Computer literate - comfortable using business software and Microsoft Office Suite (specifically strong knowledge of Excel).
