This will be a home-based role with occasional travel to sites and our head office in High Wycombe.
A quick look at the role: You will drive the Group’s M&A activities through applying experience to evaluation, negotiation and deal structuring, while managing associated risks. M&A is a core part of Biffa’s growth strategy, with transactions completed over the last 5 years. This role will give you access to an excellent volume and variety of deals.
Key responsibilities:
- Identify and develop acquisition opportunities by liaising with divisional stakeholders, professional advisers, and other external contacts.
- Improve strategic targeting and oversee the pre-pipeline and qualification processes for potential investments.
- Develop business cases, high-level financial models, and valuations in collaboration with operational teams; assess synergies and overall Group impact.
- Prepare and present investment materials, including Investment Committee and Board papers, ensuring compliance with internal processes.
- Support negotiations using discounted cash flow models, market data, and valuation techniques; draft and review offer letters and NDAs as required.
- Coordinate due diligence activities, liaising with legal teams, professional advisers, and DD providers to support deal execution.
- Manage reporting on the acquisition pipeline through monthly Board submissions and contribute to Post Investment Reviews.
- Review regulatory and governance aspects, including anti-trust risks and class test requirements.
Essential Criteria:
- Broad experience of small / mid-sized M&A transactions.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Strong financial modelling skills and experience.
- Able to build strong working relationships at senior levels.
