Shape the future of recycling in Somerset - join Biffa as an Operations Manager. This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily HWRC operations safely and efficiently across multiple sites
- Lead, motivate, and support teams including supervisors, site managers, and operatives
- Ensure compliance with all legislation, environmental permits, and company policies
- Oversee plant maintenance, repairs, and performance standards
- Build strong relationships with clients, customers, regulators, and the public
- Monitor performance against budgets, implementing improvements where needed
- Drive customer service excellence while maximising recycling performance
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of HWRC, transfer station, and road transport operations
- Proven experience managing large local authority contracts and workforces
- Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation
- Financial awareness with the ability to manage budgets effectively
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
- Full UK/EU driving licence and relevant industry qualifications (IOSH, CPC, COTC)
