Help us make a difference as a Contract Manager.

Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week. Office based – Ford, West Sussex.

A quick look at the role: to provide efficient and effective management of the Recycling & Waste Handling Contract to ensure all contractual obligations are fulfilled while maintaining a positive and productive partnership with West Sussex County.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the contractual relationship of the West Sussex County Council (WSCC) Recycling Waste handling Contract and MRMC Contract with Biffa.
  • Contract management, upstream and downstream, including strategic, operational and compliance elements that ensure maximised recycling.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly reports to West Sussex County Council (WSCC).
  • Create and sustain a positive working relationship with West Sussex County Council (WSCC) to support profitable operations for both parties.
  • Client liaison and management to ensure all operational and contractual obligations under the RWHC are met.
  • Be the main point of contact for the WSCC Contract managers on all contractual and operational issues, ensuring contractual timescales are achieved or exceeded.
  • Maintain contractual records and documentation such as correspondence & change notices at all times.

Requirements:

  • Degree-level education, ideally in an environmental discipline.
  • IOSH Safety for Managers with solid knowledge of environmental and H&S legislation.
  • Experience managing a PFI contract or similar, preferably within a local authority setting.
  • Ability to manage, interpret and integrate data through BI systems (desirable).
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, engage and drive high‑performing operational teams.
