Overview
In this role you will be at the heart of the Southern Region's commercial performance, partnering with operational leaders to translate financial insight into action. You will drive planning, reporting and controls while supporting key decisions to help sites perform at their best. You’ll deliver timely management accounts, KPI reporting and variance analysis, and work closely with site teams to identify improvement opportunities. This is an impactful, cross-functional role with a clear focus on commercial performance and risk management. You will be embedded in a dynamic fleet operations context, contributing to sustainable waste management goals.
Responsibilities
- Partner with senior leaders to provide commercial finance support and insight to Regional Finance Managers and the Southern Area Director
- Lead budgets, forecasts and investment appraisals, challenge assumptions, benchmark opportunities and manage risks
- Deliver management accounts, reporting, KPIs and variance analysis, highlighting trends and improvement opportunities
- Collaborate with Operations to build relationships with Regional Fleet Engineers and Workshop Managers and drive performance improvements through financial insight
- Conduct benchmarking and performance reviews to develop and deliver targeted improvement plans and enhance commercial awareness
- Maintain robust financial controls, ensure delegated authorities and balance sheet processes, and coordinate with Internal Audit to address risks
Key requirements
- Qualified or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent)
- Strong management accounting experience in a service, logistics, waste or operational-focused environment
- Commercial mindset with ability to build relationships and influence performance
- Advanced Excel and strong systems skills with ability to turn data into actionable insight
