Senior Financial Analyst - Energy & Land Regeneration

About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Biffa's Energy & Land Regeneration Division as a Senior Financial Analyst, supporting our landfill business.

Based in High Wycombe with hybrid working, you'll report to the Finance Business Partner and play a key role in delivering financial insight, robust reporting and commercial support across the division.

Working closely with operational and finance teams, you'll help drive informed decision-making through accurate financial planning, management reporting and analysis.

You'll also support the delivery of budgets, forecasts and strategic projects, ensuring strong financial governance and controls are maintained across the business.

  • Your Core Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and performance commentary, ensuring reporting deadlines are met
  • Present monthly financial results and insights to operational managers and senior stakeholders, supporting commercial decision-making
  • Manage capital expenditure reporting, provisions and forecasting to ensure expenditure remains aligned with budget
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and five-year plans, delivering accurate financial planning and supporting divisional submissions
  • Produce financial analysis and reporting that provides meaningful insight into business performance and profitability
  • Maintain strong financial controls through balance sheet reconciliations and compliance with accounting standards and company policies
  • Conduct site visits and audits to ensure financial processes and operational procedures are being followed correctly
  • Support the year-end audit process and provide financial information to Group Finance and external stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively across Finance and Operations to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and process efficiencies
  • Our Essential Requirements
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • At least two years' experience in a similar finance or commercial accounting role
  • Experience preparing monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to interpret and communicate financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong systems knowledge
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships across a wide range of stakeholders
  • A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Full UK driving licence, with flexibility to travel to operational sites and undertake occasional overnight stays
