A quick look at the role

We’re looking for a Business Systems Analyst who enjoys translating what business needs into practical system solutions. This role is ideal for someone with some early experience in requirements gathering and basic SQL who wants to grow their skills across configuration, testing support, and small project delivery.

You will be reporting into the Senior Configuration Manager and will work closely with the Product Team, business stakeholders, functional consultants, developers and testers to ensure the systems meet the business needs and follow the best practices.

Your core responsibilities:

  • Engage with business users to understand issues, needs, and improvement opportunities.
  • Capture, document, and validate requirements in a clear, structured way.
  • Perform basic configuration and data updates using SQL (under guidance and with change controls).
  • Support testing activities, including test preparation, execution, defect logging, and re-testing.
  • Assist with delivery of small projects, enhancements, and BAU changes.
  • Help create and maintain user guides, process documentation, and release notes.
  • Work with technical teams to troubleshoot issues and support root cause analysis.
  • Provide advice and guidance to users where necessary.
  • Resolve incidents and system issues via Biffa Service Now portal.
  • Provide input, advice and review for any application changes where required to ensure the proposed technical application changes meet the business requirements.

Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience would be beneficial.
  • Some commercial experience in a business systems, applications, analyst, or support role.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, including writing or adapting basic queries.
  • Comfortable working with stakeholders and communicating clearly.
  • An organised approach to documenting requirements and changes.
  • A curiosity for how systems support real-world business processes.

Our desirable requirements:

  • Experience with ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Jira).
  • Understanding of change management and release processes.
  • Exposure to UAT or test cycles.
