Engineering Technician Apprentice – Mechatronics Begin your journey to becoming an engineering technician with Biffa\’s Mechatronics Apprenticeship. Our award-nominated and IET-accredited programme is a 4-year scheme where you will develop skills across electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems disciplines. In Year 1, you will attend Harlow College during term time, with short periods of on-site training. Subsequent years will mainly be spent at our Edmonton site, with continued college attendance. The starting salary is £25,792, increasing annually based on your progress. Upon completion, you\’ll earn a Level 3 qualification and gain the experience and credentials to pursue EngTech status with the IET. Role Overview The role involves carrying out preventive and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and servicing on a hazardous waste site, ensuring safety and environmental compliance, and supporting continuous operational improvements. Division Within Resources & Energy , we focus on waste treatment, recycling, and disposal, providing recovery and landfill services for various materials. Core Responsibilities Ensure high operational availability and efficient repair services, diagnosing faults and conducting effective repairs. Perform installation and minor maintenance tasks to standards. Enhance productivity and availability, driving cost control and operational improvements. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs, record fault patterns, and develop solutions. Coordinate with external contractors for repairs and maintenance. Stay updated with health & safety and environmental legislation, ensuring compliance. Review and improve maintenance activities, and perform other related tasks as required. Requirements Essential: GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent). Must not already hold a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level.
