Help us make a difference as a Shift Electrical Technician at our West Sussex MBT/AD facility. £49,183.68 per annum raising to £52,612.56 after 3 months successful probation. Shift Pattern is 4 on 4 off (2 days, 2 nights and 4 off) 0630 - 1830 & 1830 - 0630.

A quick look at the role. The role holder will effectively drive engineering activities at Biffa MBT facility to deliver all operational aspects of the facility. The role holder will be responsible for driving plant availability through ensuring all PPM’s, reactive maintenance, engineering, and process improvements are carried out and implemented in a timely manner. The role holder will drive best practice on a shift basis through high engineering, compliance and H&S standards.

Your core responsibilities:

  • The role will include working reactively, dealing with machinery problems and breakdowns, as well as working through planned preventative maintenance and project work.
  • The electrical work covers everything from sensors, relays, ac/dc motors, contactors, control panels and PLC’s.
  • Ideally, we are looking for someone who can fault find on PLC’s, preferably Siemens S7, but anything else is considered.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a similar environment, so either manufacturing or industrial or automated, supporting maintenance work.
  • You must be electrical qualified and competent.
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported immediately.
  • Ensure housekeeping is maintained to high standards.
  • Motor electrical and mechanical fault finding, familiarity with MCC layout of panels.
  • Controls and Instrumentation (temperatures, pressure transducers, flow meters etc).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Electrical fault diagnoses.
  • PLC hardware knowledge.

Our essential requirements:

  • HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • BS7671 18th edition (advantageous)
