Overview
In this Senior Logistics Planner role, you will oversee the day-to-day logistics operations, ensuring efficient routing, allocation and utilisation of a designated vehicle portfolio. You’ll work with the Support Services Manager to mobilise new services and monitor fleet performance, driving improvements in delivery, efficiency, compliance and fleet availability. You’ll balance service continuity with safety and cost considerations while coaching teams and applying standards across the business. This is a hands-on role with a real impact on service quality and waste-management operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day logistics operations and manage escalations to maintain service delivery
- Plan and optimise routing, allocation and utilisation of the vehicle portfolio
- Monitor vehicle availability and maintenance with depot/fleet/workshop teams to minimise downtime
- Collaborate with the Support Services Manager on mobilisation of new services and operational requirements
- Support training and development to promote consistent processes and best practices
- Incorporate financial, compliance and health and safety considerations into route planning and decisions
Key requirements
- Experience as a Logistics Planner/Senior Planner in a large matrix organisation
- Experience with route planning software (e.g., Route Monkey, DPS (LogiX))
- Demonstrable experience of resource management and cost control
- Knowledge of transport legislation and health and safety/environmental legislation
