The role will be based at our Aldridge site, with the opportunity for hybrid working once you've completed your training and become confident using Biffa's systems.

A quick look at the role

We're looking for a proactive Data Analyst to support the ongoing digital development of our Group Engineering function.

This position will focus on delivering data-driven insights, improving business processes, and supporting engineering teams through innovative reporting, automation, and digital solutions.

You'll play a key role in developing business intelligence tools, enhancing data quality, and improving the way engineering information is captured, managed, and reported.

Working closely with colleagues across Engineering, Operations, Finance, Procurement, IT, and third-party suppliers, you'll help drive continuous improvement and support strategic business initiatives.

  • Core responsibilities
  • Build, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions that provide meaningful insight into engineering performance, maintenance activity, compliance, and asset management.
  • Create and support Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, Share Point sites, and Microsoft Lists to improve operational processes and reduce manual tasks.
  • Assist with the ongoing development and optimisation of engineering systems, including Fleet Wave, Microsoft Dynamics 365, telematics platforms, maintenance databases, and other engineering applications.
  • Produce analysis on fleet utilisation, maintenance performance, fuel efficiency, asset reliability, operating costs, and lifecycle trends to support informed decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes through automation, data integration, and the adoption of digital technologies.
  • Develop reporting and tracking tools that support engineering projects, capital investment programmes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain the integrity of engineering data by ensuring asset records, compliance documentation, and financial information are accurate and aligned with governance standards.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments and external suppliers to deliver effective digital solutions that support operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Strong experience using Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Proven ability to develop Power BI reports and interactive dashboards.
  • Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, Share Point, and Microsoft Lists.
  • Experience analysing engineering, fleet, maintenance, or operational data.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in reporting and process improvement.
  • Experience working with multiple business systems and large datasets.
