An opportunity has arisen to join the hardworking team at Wednesbury Hazardous Waste Transfer Station. We are in need of an experienced Plant Operative to work 45 hours per week on rotating shifts of 0700 to 1600 and 09:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday. Some flexibility on start and finish times may occasionally be required, and the work may include some weekends if necessary.
Operatives will be involved in the acceptance, physical treatment, and dispatch of packed waste materials, typically hazardous products arising from household collections including, but not limited to, paints, aerosols, oil, batteries, cleaning products, etc. Operatives will have daily targets to meet and must be able to work safely in a busy waste Transfer Station processing environment as part of a team, adhering to strict health and safety policies and procedures. Operatives will be trained in all aspects of the process.
Requirements:
- Candidates must possess an in-date Counterbalance FLT licence.
- In addition to the use of mobile plant, operatives will be required to perform manual handling duties when necessary, such as sweeping and cleaning of spilled material, sortation, weighing, and repacking of packaged goods along with general site housekeeping.
- Waste industry experience would be advantageous, as would any supervisory experience, first aid, fire marshal training, and mobile or static plant maintenance knowledge.
