  • £13.05 (£27,300 per annum) + 5% shift allowance
  • 4 days, 4 off, 4 nights, 4 off

As a Multi-Skilled Operator at our Biffa Polymers manufacturing site in Redcar, you'll play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of our recycling and manufacturing processes.

You'll be responsible for operating and monitoring a range of production equipment, ensuring quality standards are met, and contributing to continuous improvement across the site.

Working as part of a supportive shift team, you'll help maintain a safe, productive, and high-performing workplace while ensuring our operations continue to deliver high-quality recycled polymer products.

  • Your core responsibilities
  • Safely operate and monitor a variety of production machinery and plant equipment.
  • Operate a forklift as part of your duties (full training and certification provided where required).
  • Carry out routine operational checks and identify equipment faults or process issues.
  • Communicate problems, breakdowns, or production obstacles promptly to your Shift Supervisor.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure work areas remain clean, safe, and organised.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve productivity, and maximise operational efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve excellence in health and safety, product quality, asset performance, and employee engagement.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
  • Be flexible to work across different production areas as business needs require.
  • Our essential requirements
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, processing, recycling, or industrial environment is desirable but not essential.
  • A positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills and work across multiple processes.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • The ability to follow work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills to complete production documentation and quality checks.
  • Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality products.
  • A forklift licence is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including days and nights where applicable.
  • Physically capable of working in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods and carrying out manual handling activities where required.
