A quick look at the role:
- To undertake environmental monitoring of various landfill sites, data interpretation and reporting in accordance with the site permit as well as gas field balancing, maintenance and gas compound management.
- Monday to Friday working pattern, with on call rota of 1 day in 10.
- £30 on call allowance, plus time and a half overtime if called out.
- Covering the North Midlands area.
- 42 hours per week as standard, with regular overtime available.
- Autonomy to manage your own diary and workload with home working.
- Company 4x4 pick up provided, with personal use available.
Core responsibilities:
- Undertake environmental monitoring, data interpretation and reporting in accordance with the site permit and Biffa instructions.
- Undertake gas field monitoring, balancing and maintenance.
- Manage the landfill gas compound to ensure that power generation is maximised.
- Undertake all duties in accordance with Health and Safety policies, guidance notes and training.
- Work closely with and collaborate with landfill operational colleagues.
- Supervise and manage contractors that work on specific areas relating to this role.
- Collect, understand, collate and prepare data (for generator and environmental performance) as required to monitor the overall business performance, identify areas for improvement and implement these in collaboration with Management.
- Out of hours emergency assistance for gas generation issues.
- Carry out such reasonable tasks as might be required by the Company from time to time.
Essential requirements:
- Basic computer literacy.
- Able to travel, may be asked to stay away from home on rare occasions.
- Driving licence - Driving is a large part of the role, you will sometimes be required to drive to more than one site in a day.
- Happy to lone work - Some of our closed sites are unattended.
- Expected to work in all weathers - A large part of the role is working outside.
