Help us make a difference as a control room (SCADA) operator. This role operates on a rotating shift pattern of 2 days, 2 nights, followed by 4 days off, providing a consistent and predictable work schedule. Shifts are 12 hours in duration. You will receive 24 days annual leave, with no requirement to provide cover shifts.
A quick look at the role: The role holder will assist with the day to day operations of an anaerobic digestion plant, to control flow and processing of waste, sludge and effluents by using a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, ensuring health & safety and environmental compliance, whilst contributing to the continuous improvement in productivity, plant availability and the requirements of sub products produced.
Your core responsibilities:
- Diagnoses operating problems and undertakes necessary corrective action.
- Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and test results to determine process adjustment requirements.
- Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control.
- Starts and stops pump, engines, and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes.
- Provides accurate and detailed records of all plant operations, settings and stoppages and maintains shift log and records meter and gauge readings.
- Manages traffic activities on site using Control Room CCTV system and 2-way radio.
- Supports the engineering function in developing a programme of planned preventative maintenance, inspection and cleaning to minimise downtime and provide records of recurrent faulting.
- Keeps abreast of changes to health & safety, environmental legislation and Company policies and procedures to ensure defined standards and best practice are implemented.
- To carry out any other such reasonable job-related tasks as the Company may require.
Our essential requirements:
- IT literate – comfortable using business software and systems.
- Analytical with the ability to measure & monitor data and take appropriate corrective action.
- Able to communicate at all levels, both in verbal & written form.
- Lives within 30-mile radius of the AD plant.
- Full UK car driving licence.
Desirable:
- IOSH or other safety qualifications.
- Minimum NVQ level 3 qualification or equivalent with an engineering bias.
