A quick look at the role: The Supervisor at Biffa is responsible for overseeing and guiding the engineering team to achieve optimal performance. This role requires effectively addressing operational engineering needs and efficiently managing workloads to minimise downtime. It demands a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to lead the team towards operational excellence. You will support the work of others through developing their skills and implementing best practice. Your work will support the continuous improvement of a safe and high performing culture within the engineering teams.

- To supervise and lead the team of Maintenance Engineers and Technicians to effectively and efficiently respond to all operational engineering needs, prioritising the workload to reduce operational downtime.
- To comply with all safety regulations, instructions, policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and all others present.
- Produce and review safety documents and job instruction procedures for engineering tasks conducted on-site.
- Overseeing scheduled maintenance days, coordinating contractors, and managing the permit system are crucial responsibilities to ensure the safety of all individuals involved.
- Responsible for developing the abilities and expertise of team members.
- Guide and coach the team in problem-solving activities related to plant and machinery, enabling them to identify faults and rectify them efficiently.
- Communicate team performance and activities through the shift report and handover process to effectively communicate issues to the management, engineering and production teams.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities to determine the reasons behind failures and implement measures to prevent future failures, to enhance the plant's uptime.
- Actively identify potential faults and opportunities for improvement in the plant and equipment to prevent future failures or discover more efficient work methods.
- Accountable for managing and overseeing the planning and execution of shutdown days, including coordinating tasks, supervising contractors, and ensuring the safety of all staff and contractors by implementing the permit to work system.

- CMMS experience
- Budget / P&L management skills
- Comfortable with the use of all Microsoft applications and ability to use or learn to use others (Trello / Slack)
