Business Development Manager - Tankers

This South West-based role focuses on driving new business across South Wales and the South West, with regular travel and occasional overnight stays required.
Supporting both our Hazrem business and Taunton depot, this position is ideally suited to candidates based in South Wales, Bristol, or the surrounding areas.
The role is primarily depot and site based, with some flexibility for home working.

As Business Development Manager, Tankers, you will drive new business growth across our National Bulk Liquid (Tankers) service within Specialist Services.
You’ll focus on winning new customers, increasing waste liquid volumes, and identifying opportunities to cross-sell our wider service offering.
This is a commercially focused role requiring strong industry knowledge, an established network, and a proven ability to win contracts and deliver revenue growth.
Working closely with customers and internal stakeholders, you will play a key role in expanding our tanker business across the region.
- Your core responsibilities
- Exploring, winning and managing new business opportunities in order to secure and grow the bulk liquids product
- Proactively selling profitable new business in line with operating areas of strength, to achieve and exceed quarterly / annual new business targets
- Developing and managing a detailed new business pipeline capable of providing a clear business forecast of expected volumes and over achieving on targeted new business sales revenues
- Producing regular activity and pipeline reporting to give commercial and operational stakeholders visibility of current activity and forecast new activity
- Working closely with the regional tankers operations team to drive a growth strategy aligned with the needs of the business
- Maintaining data within the business CRM platform, enabling it to be managed within the appropriate marketing campaigns
- Liaising regularly with other commercial functions to share pipelines and best practice
- Work alongside like-minded waste professionals in a brilliantly diverse environment built on transparency – not bureaucracy.

- Experience of developing, managing and implementing new business services, with a strong track record of building and maintaining customer relationships.
- Strong knowledge of the bulk liquids market, including both hazardous and non-hazardous products, with operational understanding of tanker specifications and fittings.
- Existing network of industry contacts and the ability to identify, develop and secure new_business opportunities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, sales, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to manage conflict and achieve positive outcomes.
- Strong analytical, planning and organisational abilities, capable of assessing issues quickly, implementing solutions and delivering against tight deadlines and targets.
- Self-motivated and resilient team player who can work independently or collaboratively with internal departments, customers and external organisations, using initiative and sound judgement to achieve results.
