The Role: As a Corporate Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in driving profitable growth within our Industrial and Commercial division. You’ll be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new high-value business opportunities, managing a strong sales pipeline, and achieving both quarterly and annual targets. Your success will come from building meaningful client relationships, developing tailored solutions that showcase The Biffa Model, and delivering exceptional value through innovative waste management strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop, and manage new business tendering opportunities to secure sustainable growth.
  • Promote The Biffa Model, effectively matching our services to clients’ needs through tailored proposals and solutions.
  • Lead the full sales process — from lead generation, presentations, and proposals to negotiation, contract close, and smooth handover to account management teams.
  • Respond to tenders and RFI/RFPs promptly and professionally, collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and complete handovers.
  • Maintain and manage a robust sales pipeline valued between £15–20 million, with individual contract opportunities averaging around £1.5 million.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A proven track record of success in field-based business development (minimum 3 years).
  • Experience selling contracted services valued at £1 million + per annum.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of tendering processes.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage at all business levels.
  • Knowledge of the waste management industry or relevant legislation is advantageous, but not essential.
