Shift Pattern – 4 days on 4 days off
The Operations Supervisor – Streets will support the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of street cleansing services.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, oversee staff and manage resources to ensure effective recycling and waste collection, as well as street cleansing operations.
Ensure all activities comply with contract requirements, Biffa policies, industry regulations, and health and safety standards.
Your core responsibilities
- Plan & Organise – Coordinate daily tasks, crew deployment, and allocate vehicles, equipment, and materials to meet contractual requirements.
- Resource Scheduling – Maintain staffing, vehicle, and equipment schedules to ensure operational efficiency.
- Staff Management – Oversee inductions, attendance, and performance in line with Biffa policies.
- Compliance & Documentation – Ensure accurate completion of reports, schedules, and timesheets.
- Health & Safety – Enforce safety procedures, monitor compliance, and address any breaches.
- Site Safety – Ensure adherence to site rules, stop unsafe practices, and act on concerns.
- Client Relations – Build strong relationships with the Local Authority, attend meetings, and explore new opportunities.
- ·Support Business Goals – Complete required training and assist in achieving company objectives.
Our essential requirements
- Qualifications & Experience – Valid UK driving licence, experience driving up to 3.5T, leading teams, recruitment, training, and handling investigations (accidents, RTCs, sickness, and absence).
- Technical & Operational Skills – Knowledge of Health & Safety policies, workforce planning (scheduling, route planning, holidays, and absence management), and strong IT, communication, and customer service skills.
- Work Ethic & Adaptability – Ability to work independently, manage conflict, lead teams, and work flexible hours in all weather conditions, including physical duties.
