A quick look at the role.

You’ll support the senior management team at Redcar by driving uptime and reliability across the site. The role includes mentoring maintenance staff, managing the maintenance budget, and ensuring assets are properly maintained. You’ll plan PPM activities and shutdowns, lead improvement projects to boost performance and reduce waste, and oversee spare parts and stock levels to keep operations running smoothly.

Your core responsibilities.

  • Ensure process and ancillary equipment is maintained to deliver reliable performance and meet uptime targets through robust maintenance practices and engineering improvements.
  • Oversee site infrastructure inspections and record-keeping to ensure compliance with legal requirements, including fixed wiring, pressure systems, and environmental regulations.
  • Deliver improvement projects focused on waste reduction, yield optimisation, and process efficiency in line with budget and performance expectations.
  • Support capital expenditure planning and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, working closely with senior management and project teams.
  • Lead and motivate Maintenance Supervisors and their teams, while ensuring SOPs, PPM schedules, and maintenance documentation are in place for all new installations.
  • Manage contract labour for shutdowns and planned work, uphold health and safety standards, and use data analysis to drive reliability and continuous improvement across the site.

Our essential requirements.

  • HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Full UK driving licence
  • IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety certification
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and apply engineering principles
  • Experience managing process or lean improvement projects
  • Proven track record of meeting KPIs
  • Leadership experience in an engineering or maintenance team

Desirable

  • BEng in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with extrusion equipment
  • Background in recycling or waste processing industries
