Are you an experienced, chartered Senior Building Surveyor looking for an exciting new role at a leading firm that works with prestigious clients? Bidwells have a newly created opportunity for a passionate, self-motivated Senior Building Surveyor to join our Rural Estate Management and Professional department. The successful candidate will play an essential role working closely with a key client that we have a strong, long-standing relationship with, working across their interesting and significant portfolio. This role can be based either in our Perth or Inverness office, with agile working options.

What you’ll be doing

  • Work on and project manage a range of instructions received from clients and colleagues to include house refurbishments, farm building repairs and construction, ground works and other building projects on rural estates.
  • Demonstrate due diligence in carrying out professional work.
  • Prepare specifications and contract tender documentation.
  • Supervise contractors and liaise with consultants.
  • Report as required to the client/s, agreeing variations and deliver projects on time, within budget.
  • Fully understand client needs and requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing clients and seek new clients and instructions.
  • Build internal relationships to ensure cross selling of work.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant Building Surveying legislation, standards and regulations and share relevant information.
  • Ensure best practice and policy/procedure compliance.
  • Maintain administrative and ad hoc duties as needed.

About you

  • A relevant or RICS accredited qualification in Building Surveying or equivalent. Ideally chartered (MRICS).
  • Solid building surveying experience, preferably with some experience in the rural sector.
  • Professional services or consultancy experience would be an advantage.
  • Professional and personable client care skills.
  • Have an awareness and understanding of issues affecting the economy and implications on the firm and on building surveying.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong IT skills, specifically in the Microsoft Office package.
  • CSCS card holder (desirable).
