We are searching for a motivated and ambitious Graduate Landscape Architect who is looking to join our growing team at our head office in Trumpington, Cambridge .

Our Masterplanning, Landscape and Assessment (MLA) Team sits within the Planning department and is an integral part of the largest Planning Consultancy in the Eastern Region. Our core skills are Master Planning, Landscape Design and Assessment, and our key markets are the golden triangle of London, Cambridge and Oxford including the Oxford-Cambridge Arc.

MLA is a multi-disciplinary design team concerned with shaping the built environment. We are involved in a range of work across cities, towns, villages and rural areas, considering the interaction between landscapes, streets, buildings and public spaces to create functional, attractive and sustainable places.

What you’ll be doing

  • Contributing to the preparation of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments and Landscape and Visual Appraisals.
  • Undertaking studies to establish site constraints and assess development potential including site visits, baseline assessments and development policy studies.
  • Assisting in the preparation of Design and Access Statements or Concept Studies.
  • Preparing master plans at all levels of scale and detail.
  • Preparing landscape planning and construction packages.
  • Providing Landscape Architecture advice to clients.
  • Undertaking any administrative duties of a Landscape Architect.
  • Supporting the MLA team in the running of the team and preparation of project work.
  • Identifying opportunities to build relationships within the Firm, and the wider property industry.
  • Promoting the services of the Masterplanning, Landscape and Assessment team alongside the Planning Department.

You’ll also join our two-year graduate development program, designed to enhance your personal effectiveness, commercial and financial acumen and client delivery skills. This program will help you build a robust foundation for a successful career in the property sector, taking you beyond your current technical expertise.

About You

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Landscape Architecture and/or Urban Design, or an undergraduate degree in Geography with an interest in shaping the built environment.
  • Specific interest in Masterplanning, Urban Design and Landscape Assessment.
  • Proficiency in Auto Cad, Adobe systems and digital drawing/presentation packages such as InDesign.
  • Good written and oral communication skills and ability to show initiative in furthering projects.
  • Ability to act independently but also as part of multi-disciplinary professional teams.
  • Initiate and prioritise work and meet deadlines without jeopardising quality.
  • Good interpersonal skills with a helpful and approachable manner.
  • Ability to accept, interpret and develop instructions in the best interests of clients and in accordance with RTPI, LI and Bidwells procedures.
  • Full driving licence.
