Are you a qualified Financial/Management Accountant with team management experience? Are you looking for an opportunity to join a leading, yet fast-growing professional services firm and to be part of a friendly, busy team? Bidwells have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Group Financial Accountant to play a critical role within the fast-paced Finance Department, which is responsible for providing strategic, management and operational financial support to the Firm and managing key risks appropriately. The key priorities of the Financial Accounting function are to manage all relevant financial, statutory, management, tax, cashflow and regulatory reporting for all Group activities.
In order to achieve these, the Group Financial Accountant will need to build strong relationships with their own team, through strong line management, as well as laterally across the wider Finance team as well as the People / Payroll team. This role will initially be offered as a 12-month fixed term contract, although there may be the possibility of a long-term opportunity thereafter. This role will ideally be full time, however we may consider flexible or part-time working options.
What you'll be doing
- Working closely with the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis, you will be a key point of contact with external advisers, including the auditors and tax advisers, and will manage any inspections from external bodies such as clients or regulators.
- Working with the Management Accounts team to produce timely and accurate monthly management accounts.
- Management of all VAT, CT and other tax filings.
- Produce the annual statutory accounts.
- Manage the timely and accurate provision of all information relating to the tax affairs of the partnership and of individual partners where applicable.
- Management of company secretarial matters and regulatory filings (ONS, increasing ESG requirements etc).
- Management of reporting to the firm's bankers.
- Treasury reporting, including annual cashflow planning.
- Manage information for the firm's Fleet Manager.
- Working alongside HR, Payroll and Accounts Payable to manage and administer all outgoing treasury operations.
- Ensure consistent and accurate messaging to internal stakeholders through the monthly management reporting process, including monthly bonus accruals and reconciliation.
- Field queries from colleagues regarding statutory financial reporting, taxation and regulatory questions.
- Assist with the annual budgeting process and in producing analysis and forecasting for fee earning departments.
- Any other ad hoc business/finance requests from the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis.
- Direct line management of 2 team members (Assistant Accountants).
About you
- Qualified accountant (ACA /ACCA / CIMA).
- Demonstrable experience of line managing small team of qualified/part-qualified accountants.
- Experience of managing the management accounting function.
- Experience of managing external audits for SME.
- Experience of managing all tax (direct and indirect) affairs for SME.
- Well-developed capability in managing and reporting on highly confidential and personal data.
- Solid presentation skills coupled with significant experience in data management.
- Experience working in an LLP, professional services firm or large corporate company would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of working in a property business would be a bonus.
- Experience in fleet management is a nice to have.
- Experience in NetSuite or similar system.
