What you’ll be doing
- You will support the Commercial Building Surveying team across a diverse range of professional and project-led instructions, including building inspections, surveys, technical reports, design and specification work, contract administration and project delivery activities.
- This role also involves maintaining regular client communication, developing strong professional relationships and proactively managing workloads to meet deadlines and service standards.
- You'll also contribute to internal meetings and build connections across the business, while gaining hands-on experience.
Some key duties of the role include:
- Supporting the Commercial Building Surveying team in delivering a wide range of professional building surveying services
- Working alongside experienced surveyors on a variety of instructions
- Assisting with building inspections, surveys and preparing technical reports
- Supporting the delivery of client projects whilst providing regular progress updates to clients and colleagues
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, property professionals and internal teams
- Supporting the management of project timelines and ensuring work is delivered to agreed deadlines and quality standards
- Preparing reports, meeting notes and other project documentation
- Maintaining accurate project records, timesheets and expense submissions
- Keeping up to date with building surveying legislation, industry standards and best practice
- Working towards achieving Chartered Surveyor status through the RICS APC programme
What you'll achieve
As a Graduate Building Surveyor, you'll gain hands-on experience across a broad range of building surveying projects while working alongside experienced professionals. You'll develop your technical expertise, build client relationships, contribute to project delivery, undertake inspections and report writing and work towards achieving RICS Chartered status. You’ll have the opportunity to grow alongside us, and we're committed to supporting your progress every step of the way. We'll provide extensive assistance with the RICS APC, where our strong first-time pass rate speaks for itself. You'll also join our two-year graduate development program, designed to enhance your personal effectiveness, commercial and financial acumen, and client delivery skills. This program will help you build a robust foundation for a successful career in the property sector, taking you beyond your current technical expertise.
About you
- A relevant and RICS accredited qualification in Building Surveying or equivalent
- Awareness and understanding of issues affecting the economy and the implications on the Firm and specifically, Building Surveying
- Strong IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office applications
- Client care skills – good interpersonal communication both verbal and written
- An interest in business development and building client relationships
- Team player
- Some relevant experience in Building Surveying, ideally having started the APC
- Experience of recording time and expenses
- Understanding of turnover/income, profit and gross margin
