The Strategic Account Manager will have full responsibility for the leadership, management, and strategic development of the security services of a large Manufacturing Company in Derry.

This role is accountable for delivering exceptional security operations, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, maintaining strong client relationships, and driving continuous improvement across all aspects of service delivery.

As the primary point of contact for senior client stakeholders, the Strategic Account Manager will develop a trusted partnership with the Client, ensuring security services are aligned with business objectives, operational requirements, and industry best practice.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capability, commercial acumen, and experience operating within high-security, technology-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Account Leadership
  • Lead the overall delivery and strategic direction of the Client security contract.
  • Develop and implement account strategies that align with both client objectives and company goals.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for all operational, contractual, and service-related matters.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders at operational, management, and executive levels.
  • Ensure security services evolve in line with client requirements, emerging threats, and industry developments.
  • Drive a collaborative "One Team" culture between client representatives and security teams.
  • Promote service innovation and identify opportunities to enhance contract performance and value.
  • Security Operations Management
  • Provide leadership and oversight of all on-site security operations.
  • Ensure all security services are delivered in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and contractual requirements.
  • Oversee manned guarding, access control, CCTV monitoring, incident management, emergency response, and visitor management activities.
  • Ensure security staffing levels, deployment plans, and resource allocation support operational effectiveness.
  • Review operational performance regularly and implement improvement initiatives where required.
  • Ensure effective management of incidents, investigations, security breaches, and corrective actions.
  • Support business continuity, crisis management, and emergency response planning processes.
  • Maintain operational resilience and ensure security services remain fully effective at all times.
  • Client Relationship Management
  • Develop trusted partnerships with Client's security leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Lead monthly operational reviews, quarterly business reviews, and annual strategic planning meetings.
  • Prepare and present detailed operational performance reports, risk assessments, and improvement plans.
  • Proactively identify client needs and opportunities for service enhancement.
  • Manage client feedback, complaints, and service recovery processes professionally and effectively.
  • Ensure strong communication channels exist between the client, operational teams, and company leadership.
  • People Leadership & Development
  • Lead, support, and develop Site Security Managers, Supervisors, and Security Officers.
  • Ensure recruitment, succession planning, and workforce development activities support current and future contract requirements.
  • Promote employee engagement and maintain a positive, professional working environment.
  • Conduct performance reviews, development planning, welfare meetings, and coaching sessions.
  • Manage employee relations matters fairly and consistently in line with company policies and employment legislation.

  • Maintain full accountability for contract profitability and financial performance.

  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, industry standards, company procedures, and contractual obligations.
  • Maintain compliance with ACS standards, BS7499, BS7858, SIA licensing requirements, ISO standards, GDPR, and site‑specific security protocols.
  • Ensure all security personnel maintain valid licences, certifications, and mandatory training requirements.
  • Lead contract governance processes and ensure audit readiness at all times.
  • Conduct regular security reviews, operational audits, and compliance inspections.
  • Maintain effective risk management processes and oversee mitigation plans.
  • Ensure findings from audits, incidents, and investigations are effectively addressed and closed.

Essential Requirements

  • Significant Senior management experience within the security industry. applicants must have operated at Operations Manager level or above.
  • Proven experience managing a high-profile corporate, manufacturing, security contract.
  • Experience managing security teams within a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of security operations, risk management, and incident response.
  • Demonstrable experience managing client relationships at senior stakeholder level.
  • Strong commercial and financial management experience, including budget accountability.
  • Experience managing service delivery against contractual KPIs and SLAs.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Strong leadership and people management capability.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering exceptional service standards.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Requirements

  • Degree or professional qualification in Security Management, Business Management, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
  • SIA Front Line Licence and/or Non Frontline SIA Licence and/or a Security Management qualification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Experience managing integrated security technology solutions including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, and command centre operations.
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Experience leading security transformation projects and implementing innovative technologies.
