As a Sustainability Executive in our sustainability team, you will be helping to drive progress towards achieving our sustainability targets and commitments across our product range, both for Bidfood and for our customers. This role will be customer centric you will be engaging with our customers, and ensuring the products we source meet our key customers sustainability requirements as a priority. You will also be delving into our product data, engaging with suppliers, collecting information and implementing actions to ensure we improve the sustainability of our products and progress our product policies. One day you will be discussing animal welfare and cage free eggs, whilst the next might be working on deforestation, biodiversity and modern slavery. You will be keen to develop your knowledge in all areas of sustainability, particularly relating to products, and keep up to date with a rapidly changing environment through monitoring news stories and attending industry workshops and webinars. You will enjoy researching new topics, and be able to take the information you have learned and adapt it into useful tools to advance Bidfoods sustainability objectives. Your role will sit within our Sustainability team, but will support our Technical Services team based in Slough and you will engage regularly with this department. Other team members include those working on carbon and supply chain projects, and you will need to keep up to speed with their projects and disseminate this information back to customers. You will also work with our commercial and marketing teams often leading meetings and steering groups to discuss key topics, as well as being a vital support for our Tenders teams, providing information on our sustainability commitments, progress and policies to attract new customers and win new business. Youll be regularly tracking our progress against a range of long term targets and presenting to internal and external teams on how were progressing, being a consistent advocate for our work. A bit about you Youll have a passion for sustainability and a keen desire to develop yourself, taking responsibility for your own learning, making sure you stay up to date with the rapidly changing landscape we operate in, from deforestation to animal welfare, greenhouse gas emissions to biodiversity, and many others. A significant part of this role will be delivering excellent service to customers, so you will need to be a confident presenter and excellent relationship builder. This role gives you amazing exposure to players across the hospitality market and it is essential that you show-case your learned expertise to them. Youll have an excellent standard of both written and spoken English, as communication is a key part of the role. You will be working cross-functionally with multiple departments across the business, so being willing to proactively pick up the phone and build relationships is essential. Youll have resilience and commitment to achieving progress despite barriers, using your problem solving skills to find solutions and ensure progress towards ambitious targets. Youll be engaging with a wide range of suppliers on different stages of their sustainability journey, so you will need to use your excellent communication and influencing skills to bring them along on Bidfoods journey too. Youll have excellent attention to detail, and enjoy working with large data sets in a variety of different formats. Youll be able to juggle many projects at once, on different timescales. Youll be self-motivated, highly organised, proactive and be able to initiate conversations and make connections between your objectives and the different teams that will help deliver them.
