About the role
Caterfood Buying Group is a collection of independent foodservice suppliers working together to offer an extensive product range, industry knowledge, and geographical coverage.
We have a new position for a Trading Assistant within the Caterfood Buying Group Trading Team.
The Caterfood Buying Group (CFBG) Trading team is responsible for the day-to-day management of suppliers within the group, ensuring CFBG collaborates with the right suppliers for our members. This includes negotiating group agreements related to commercial terms, fixed product listings, and marketing execution with those suppliers.
A Trading Assistant within the Central Team plays a crucial role by supporting the wider trading team and Group Commercial Director in daily trading functions.
Flexible Working: The role is home-based with some travel and overnight stays around the UK when visiting members.
Role Essentials
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the CFBG Procurement strategy.
- Gain a good understanding of each CFBG member business through regular visits and contact with key members.
- Communicate regularly with group members about CFBG Central news and supplier updates.
- Manage all aspects of CFBG Suppliers on a daily basis.
- Build strong relationships with the supplier portfolio.
- Identify and engage with potential new group suppliers.
- Manage income: logging, tracking, forecasting, reporting, and revising as needed.
Who we’re looking for
- Experience with product lifecycle stages: sourcing, tendering, launching, monitoring, benchmarking, and delisting.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within the Foodservice Industry.
- Experience in income management, commercial knowledge, and accountability.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive performance.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Moderate proficiency in MS Excel.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent commercial acumen and financial control.
- Team-oriented with the ability to achieve success through others.
- Flexible, proactive, enthusiastic, and positive attitude.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks.
