About the role

  1. The role of the Junior Buyer is a critical one. Responsible for a large range of different spend categories it is essential that the individual is process driven, able to work under pressure and can engage internal customers to ensure their buy in.
  2. The Junior Buyer will be expected to reduce costs, mitigate risks and secure preferential terms and conditions that will ultimately create value and improve the business’ competitive advantage.
  3. The jobholder will have 2 years\’ procurement or relevant experience in a commercial role. This would suit an individual who has previously been in a procurement administrative or supporting role.
  4. The jobholder must have excellent PC skills, specifically MS Excel; good influencing and negotiating skills and ideally educated to a degree level and / or CIPS.
  5. The jobholder will be self-motivated with good problem solving and inter-personal skills. They should be good listeners and able to adapt their communication style to suit a broad range of people. This will allow them to build a network of colleagues to call upon for support as required.
  6. A certain degree of travel will be required, so a full UK licence is a very strong preference.
  7. CIPS qualification preferred but not essential and support can be provided for progressing with CIPS exams
