About the role

Play an important part in our journey. Our day shifts have varying start times between 6:00 am and 11:00 am and rotas are any 5 in 7 days. As a Warehouse Operative on the day shift, you’ll handle a wide range of ambient, chilled and frozen products.
You’ll be:
- Picking and loading orders.
- Making sure products are arranged and stored correctly.
- Using our handling equipment (we’ll train you on how to use it safely).
- Relocating products using pump trucks, power pallet trucks and forklifts.
- To accurately pick and assemble orders as per the pick sheet.
- Where required to check picked stock, record and report any errors as per the depot procedure.
- To ensure that pick faces are labelled correctly and report errors to the Coordinator/Team Manager.
- Where required to accurately replenish and stack stock, ensuring that it is placed in the correct section of the pick face and complying with any relevant date rotation requirements.
- Where required to carefully load cages and/or pallets onto vehicle correctly, ensuring that they are easily accessible for the driver.
- To be aware of and comply with all requirements of the Health & Safety policy and procedure including wearing safety clothing and footwear.
- To ensure that the warehouse and site are kept in a clean, tidy and safe condition at all times, this includes a clean‑as‑you‑go policy, e.g. do not walk past litter pick it up and dispose of as required (this could be a slip hazard).
- To be aware of and comply with all fire safety procedures, including maintaining clear fire exits and escape routes.
- To be aware of and always conform to all mechanical handling equipment procedures.
- To be aware of and always comply with relevant legislation involved in Food Safety & Hygiene.
- To work with all team members to ensure that corporate goals are consistent, achieved and maintained.
- To cooperate fully with other departments and depots.
- To work as part of a team in achieving department objectives, in line with divisional targets.
- To always maintain a professional and polite attitude.
- Undertake other duties that may from time to time prove necessary.
- To always wear the Company uniform.
- On occasions where it is necessary to undertake a depot stock take, staff will be expected to be available.
- In addition to your main duties, you will be required to carry out such duties consistent with your status and abilities as the Company may from time to time require.
- To ensure correct and accurate recording of any manual paperwork.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Essential: Basic numeracy and literacy, be physically fit.
Desirable: Experience working within a multi-temperature environment. MHE/Forklift License.
