We are looking for a dynamic Employee Relations Advisor who can effectively and efficiently provide accurate advice that empowers people managers to handle the prevention and resolution of ER matters up to and including Employment Tribunal level. Cases will include disciplinary, grievance, performance management, probation, short and long term absence and SOSR cases.
The individual must have the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships along with the skills to train and coach people managers during case management. You will be working as part of a team of 9 who are a great support and constantly bounce ideas off each other. Our service runs from 8am – 11pm and in this role you will determine your hours based on the needs of the business. You will normally work a typical day of 9‑5pm, but as the team covers each other and supports our evening shift managers there will be times when you will need to be flexible. We are flexible in return and this is a truly flexible role. This role is a 1‑year fixed term contract – start date May 26 onwards. This role is fully remote however occasional travel will be required for team meetings and training. All equipment is provided. Candidates should be aware this role will be subject to relevant background and reference checks.
Requirements
- CIPD level 5 preferred
- Sound knowledge and practical application of current UK employment law procedures and processes.
- Strong organisational capability, able to meet deadlines and manage large volumes of work.
- Developed interpersonal skills and able to demonstrate strong personal credibility to persuade and influence site/department management on ER related activity.
- Ability to make sound judgement, ensuring balanced advice that manages risk but drives end results.
- Ability to provide on the spot advice through various communication channels.
- A customer driven, collaborative and hands‑on approach able to identify pragmatic, business focussed solutions to problems, ability to see the bigger picture and think through the wider implications of actions.
- Enthusiastic and positive approach.
- Efficient and effective user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills – able to produce spreadsheets and presentations.
- Experience of HR database systems and reporting functions and ability to review statistical data and interpret to provide management information.
- Able to cope under pressure and prioritize demands.
- Able to work out ideas of core hours to the needs of the business.
