We are seeking a receptionist/administrator preferably with pastgeneral practice or NHS experience. The successful candidate will receive assist and navigate patients to accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous efficient and effective way. You will alsoprovide assistance to the Practice Team and project a friendly and positiveimage to patients and other visitors either in person or via the telephone.
The weekly hours for this role are 23 hours perweek:-
Monday & Tuesday8.30amto 1.00pm
Wednesday & Thursday 1.30pmto 6.30pm
Friday 2.30pm to 6.30pm
Main duties of the job
You will be the first point of contact for patients, managing the front desk, dealing with daily queries and arranging appointments.
Maintainingand monitoring the practice appointments system
Processingpersonal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephoneconsultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcareprofessional
Processingand distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
Processingrepeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
Initiatingcontact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member andassociated healthcare agencies and providers
Providingclerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, includingword/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
Preparing notes for newpatients who have joined the practice.
Act as a resource forpatients seeking information on local and or health issues.
About us
We are a busytraining practice with approx 10,700 patients. We have 6 GPs, 3 trainee GPs, 2Advanced Nurse practitioners, 1 Pharmacist, 3 Practice nurses, 1 GP Assistant ,1Health Care Assistant. All of theseroles are supported by our Reception/Administration team who play a vital partin the day to day running of the practice.
The successful applicant will receive comprehensive training to help become part of an efficient, but supportive and friendly reception teamand a valued member of an inclusive wider practice team where your contributionto our team monthly meetings is listened to and valued.

Opening up/locking up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
Taking messages and passing on information
Filing and retrieving paperwork
Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team member and associated healthcare agencies and providers
Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
Keeping the reception area, noticeboards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
Preparing notes for new patients who have joined the practice
