About the role

Job Title: Packing Room Operative

Responsible to: Team Leader / Team Manager

Main Role

To ensure the packing room and surrounding production areasare kept clean, safe, and hygienic to a high standard. The role involvescleaning and sanitising equipment, floors, surfaces, utensils, and other areaswithin the packing room, following company hygiene procedures, food safetyrequirements, Health & Safety procedures, and COSHH regulations.

Main Duties

  • Clean and sanitise the packing room, equipment,tables, work surfaces, trays, trolleys, utensils, floors, and other areas asrequired.
  • Carry out cleaning during hygiene windows andbetween product changes to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Remove food debris and waste and ensure thepacking room is kept clean, tidy, and organised.
  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely andcorrectly, following COSHH requirements and colour-coded cleaning procedures.
  • Check cleaning equipment and materials are ingood condition and report when replacements or additional supplies are needed.
  • Complete hygiene checklists and cleaning recordsaccurately as required.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, Health &Safety, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Report any hygiene, cleaning, equipment,maintenance, or food safety issues to the Hygiene Team Leader or Management.
  • Assist with waste disposal, laundry duties, andcleaning other areas of the factory when required.
  • Ensure cleaned equipment is properly sanitisedand returned to the correct area.
  • Carry out any other duties required by theHygiene Team Leader or Management Team, providing appropriate training has beencarried out.

  • Ability to follow cleaning, hygiene, and foodsafety procedures.
  • Understanding of safe use of cleaning chemicalsand COSHH requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced food productionenvironment.
  • Ability to carry out physical and repetitivecleaning tasks.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, organised, and willing to assist otherdepartments when required.

Shift Pattern

Monday to Friday – 10pm to 6am (30-minute unpaid break)

Contracted Hours

37.5 hours per week
