thebigword is a global leader in language services and technology. They are looking for a skilled Bid Writer to join their team and play a key role in securing new contracts across their core sectors, including NHS, Police, local government, central government and charities.

In this position, you’ll be responsible for crafting persuasive, well-structured proposals that showcase thebigword’s strengths and align with client requirements. Your work will directly contribute to their strategic growth by helping them win new business.

thebigword is seeking someone with a strong track record in bid writing, ideally with experience in developing Social Value content. You’ll need to communicate complex ideas clearly and professionally, tailoring each bid to reflect their unique value proposition.

This is primarily a remote role, however travel to their Leeds office will be required for team collaboration and planning sessions occasionally and a minimum of three times per month.

Key responsibilities:

  • Produce high scoring bid content in line with tender evaluation guidance/scoring matrix that clearly articulates the benefits of thebigword solution to meet specific client and commissioner needs.
  • Actively seek out high-quality content from internal colleagues to continuously improve bid submissions as part of a commitment to ongoing enhancement.
  • Coordinate input from internal stakeholders including subject matter experts and operational teams, to ensure bids are well-informed and compelling.
  • Work closely with the Senior Bid Manager and Senior Vice President of New Business to support bid management activities, internal meetings, and the development of solution and win themes.
  • Ensure compliance and quality by ensuring all proposals meet tender compliance requirements, adhere to company values, and maintain the highest quality standards.
  • Adapt and refresh existing content within the bid resource bank to raise the overall quality of submissions.
  • Actively seek feedback on both successful and unsuccessful bids to inform future responses and improve outcomes.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments and monitor competitor activity to ensure bids remain competitive and aligned with market expectations.
  • Attend networking and forum events to build new contacts and explore potential business opportunities.
  • Support the delivery of presentations and attend face-to-face client meetings when required.

  • Bid writing experience within employability, skills, justice, or health sectors is highly desirable.
  • Experience crafting strong Social Value responses is desirable.
  • Some project management experience would be highly valuable.
  • A university degree is advantageous.
  • An APMP membership would also be desirable, but not essential.
